Twelve years ago, I didn’t believe this.

That afternoon, I was sitting in a Taco Bell parking lot with $5.38 to my name and a bank account $250 in the red.

I had a wife and kids depending on me.

No college degree.
No investors.
No connections.

I was working two jobs — one as a janitor, the other in ministry — doing everything I could just to survive.

And still, nothing was working.

At the time, I thought my problem was effort. I thought I just needed to grind harder and push longer.

But sitting there in that parking lot, something finally clicked:

If I kept surrounding myself with the same inputs, having the same conversations, and trying to figure everything out on my own…

Nothing was going to change.

That afternoon forced a decision I couldn’t ignore.

I stopped asking, “How do I work harder?” and started asking, “Where do I need to be?”

Who I needed to learn from.
Who I needed to be around.
What rooms I needed access to.

I didn’t suddenly have answers. But I finally understood the real constraint:

Growth doesn’t come from effort alone. It comes from exposure.

And that decision to stop building in isolation and start being intentional about my environment...

Set everything else in motion...

“The First Time That Decision Paid Off… It Came From A Room...”

A few years later, I stepped onto a small stage at a business event.

Nothing fancy.
No big brand behind me.
No hype.

But I understood something I didn’t before:

If I wanted different results, I had to show up differently.

So I spoke with clarity.

I positioned my experience.

And I made my value obvious.

Someone important was paying attention.

That single talk led to another invitation… then a bigger stage.

And that’s how I ended up partnering with Bernt Ullman — the architect behind Jennifer Lopez’s $3.5B brand deal with Kohl’s.

That room led to:

  • A business partnership

  • A #1 Amazon bestselling book

  • Consulting for a 9-figure celebrity lifestyle brand

One room.
One conversation.

A completely different trajectory.

That’s when I stopped guessing and knew for certain:

The room is the multiplier.

“Eventually, I Saw Why So Few Business Owners Ever Make It Into These Rooms…”

By 2021, I had already been in a lot of high-level rooms.

That’s when I was brought into Grant Cardone’s Cardone Ventures as a business consultant.

Within nine months, I became the fastest-promoted employee in company history

leading a team of 40 consultants across 90+ businesses, overseeing $900M+ in annual revenue.

Every other week, I was in the room with thousands of business owners—working on systems, structure, and scale at the highest level.

That environment sharpened everything.

My thinking.
My standards.
My ability to see what actually drives growth.

But it also revealed a hard truth most people never see:

Rooms like this exist.

They’re rare.
They’re guarded.
And access is intentional.

Without exposure to these environments, even good businesses eventually plateau.

Not because owners lack effort—but because they never enter rooms that force better decisions.

“That's when the real problem finally became obvious…”

  • Growth feels stressful instead of exciting, with every increase in revenue bringing more complexity, pressure, and responsibility rather than relief...

  • You’re making bigger, higher-stakes decisions with less confidence because clarity, structure, and reliable insight haven’t kept pace with growth...

  • Revenue may be increasing, but margins and cash flow feel unpredictable, making it difficult to trust what the business is actually producing...

  • You’re no longer sure which problems truly deserve attention and which ones are just symptoms, leaving you stuck reacting instead of prioritizing...

  • The business still depends too heavily on you for decisions, approvals, and problem-solving, making scale feel fragile and time away risky...

Being in those rooms showed me how businesses actually grow.

I saw what worked.
I saw what broke.
And I saw exactly where most owners quietly hit a ceiling.

But I also saw something else.

Most business owners would never get access to rooms like these.

Not because they weren’t capable.
Not because they didn’t deserve it.

But because the rooms were closed.
Guarded.
And only visible to insiders.

And without access to the right environment, even good businesses stall.

That’s when it clicked:

The real constraint isn’t effort.
It isn’t intelligence.

It’s access.

Access to better conversations.
Access to clearer thinking.
Access to environments that force better decisions.

And once I saw that clearly, I couldn’t ignore it.

If rooms like this were changing my life and career…

Then more operators needed access to them.

That realization is what led me to launch Altru Partners.

“I paid a hight price to learn what most rooms get wrong...”

Before I ever built a room of my own, I paid my way into a lot of them.

Over the years, I invested more than $50,000 to get access to rooms that promised elite relationships, high-level thinking, and real growth.

Some delivered.

Many didn’t.

What I found was frustrating—but also instructive.

A lot of rooms talked about proximity…
but were really just crowded stages.

They sold access…
but offered very little interaction.

They promised relationships…
but created environments where no real trust or depth could form.

You walked away inspired for a day or two—
but without clarity, continuity, or meaningful connection.

And that’s when it became obvious:

Most rooms aren’t designed for real operators.

They’re designed for scale.
For optics.
For the organizer—not the people in the room.

That realization didn’t make me cynical.

It made me clear.

If I was going to put my name on a room, it had to deliver the kind of value I was willing to pay for—but rarely received.

And that conviction shaped everything that came next.

In other words: Access doesn’t equal value."

“It Became Clear That The Rooms I Needed Didn’t Exist In Phoenix…”

So I created one.

I created THE ROOM most business owners never experience—where real operators elevate each other and focus on the decisions that unlock their next stage of growth...No noise. No guessing. Just clarity and momentum.

And that room became what is known as Phoenix Business Builders!

it's time to take action!
